Scott Storch Lands In Hot Water Again

It looks like Scott Storch is in hot water once again. Things haven't been looking good for the once dominant hip hop producer and they don't seem to be getting any better.

According to TMZ, Storch has now been charged with Grand Theft Auto after he allegedly leased a Bentley and failed to return it after the expiration date.

It reportedly took the leasing company seven months to find the vehicle.

Storch plead not guilty to the charges last Friday in Broward County Court.

Financial Collapse

Storch's career came to a screeching halt after his financial collapse in early 2008.

In July of 2008, Storch was unable to pay over $500,000 in late property taxes, and a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear at his child-support hearing.

In March of 2008, Storch was forced to put up his $20 million yacht up for sale for a mere $600,000 because he could no longer afford the payments. He also gave up 13 of his 14 luxury cars collection.

Storch's home was also seized for non-payment of real estate taxes, however, he was able to get it back.

Earlier this year, Storch entered rehab for a rumored cocaine addiction. He is reportedly doing very well.

T.I. Preps New Album Before Bid, 20 Tracks In The Bag

Awaiting the beginning of his year long bid in federal prison, Atlanta MC T.I. is grinding out as much music as he can.

But that's not all he has in store for his fans, according the rapper, he's also planning on releasing yet another LP while behind bars.

The untitled album is tentatively scheduled to hit stores some time in 2010, and as T.I. tells MTV News, he has already finished 20 tracks.

While he picked up the pen for Paper Trail, Tip says he’s recording some tracks straight from his memory.

“I’m doing it half and half,” he told MTV of his writing process.

“It depends on the type of record I’m doing. I have records now I did and I just went and did it like I used to, and I got some where I wrote it down. I’m not committing myself to one way or another. It’d have to be an infusion, just depending on what sort of album I want to make.”

“Recording is never a problem for me,” he added. “I’m able to record any time.

Through the best of times and through the worst of times, I’m still able to record.

It may change the sort of song you do, but you never can tell. You never know until that moment gets there.”

T.I. is set to begin his one year and one day prison sentence on May 19th, 2009.

Cam'ron On Dipset Reunion: "It's A Wrap"

THURSDAY APRIL 9, 2009

Fans awaiting the long rumored Dipset reunion are in for some disappointment. According to the groups former frontman, it's never going to happen.

Rumors of a reunion began circulating after Cam'ron's return to hip hop from an extended hiatus earlier this year.

After announcing the release of his forthcoming LP, Crime Pays, Cam said he a cordial conversation with Jim Jones and that he was open to the idea of a reunion.

"It was cordial," Cam said of the phone call.

"He knew it was me. He said we was gonna holla — maybe we'll put something together. But in the immediate future, I'm just doing Cam.

But you never know what can happen down the line. I called Zeke's phone and I guess Zeke gave Jim the phone to pick up. We just talked, asked about each other's family. He said he's on a promo tour. He'd be back soon. That was that."

That quickly went down the drain however, after Jim Jones denied a conversation ever took place. Cam says that was the final nail in the coffin.

"Basically, to be honest — it's a wrap," Cam tells MTV News.

"I called Jim. Everybody has not been speaking for the past three, four years. It just got in the public. Once the problems get in the public, to me, it can't be fixed."Recently, maybe a month ago, I called Zeke's phone," he added.

"I speak to Jim, I say, 'Cool, B. Maybe we can work some stuff out.' I was really at the point where we could work some stuff out. Maybe three minutes before I did an MTV interview ... we just got off the phone, so I did the interview and said we just got off the phone. Jim gets on the TV or radio, whatever, and be like, 'No, me and Cam didn't speak. I don't know what he's talking about. He's got Alzheimer's.' Then he said, 'We did speak on the phone.' My thing is, why lie about a phone conversation? Why would I lie about a phone call?"

Jadakiss: "The Last Kiss" Review

Photobucket

http://www.defsounds.com/reviews/Jada_kiss_the_last_kiss

There comes a time in every artist's career, when they reach a point where they know that where they're at, is probably the best that they will ever be. It may not necessarily be because they don't have the skills to excel to higher heights, its just the way that things are for them. Jadakiss is one of those artists. With lyrical and song writing skills that should have pushed him into the elite iconic status of the Hip Hop world, Jada has slugged his way through the under appreciated middle class level of raps misguided class system. So while he excels and continues to put up A+ performances, the artist who constantly put up D's, continues to ascend higher into the class system then he can ever imagine. But instead of following the steps of the D students, Kiss has decided to be happy where he is at and put out the music that he wants. He no longer competes with the achieving under achievers, and instead competes with himself. So with his third album The Last Kiss, this Yonkers rapper puts together an album that he and the listeners can be proud of. Successful or not.

Lyrics-9

Despite being in the game for years now, Kiss has failed to lose a step in his lyrical prowess, with more experience than just raw talent, and a bigger vocabulary than the average artist. Kiss is able to stay aggressive on the microphone ripping beat after beat on this album, while still keeping the lyrics simple enough for the common listener to understand. Unlike some artist who make their lyrics too simple and sometimes out right annoying, Kiss keeps an air of skill to it, adding some cockiness to the act as he keeps the same smooth flow that has gotten him to this point in his career so far. Lyrical highlights include Pain And Torture, Death Wish, Something Else, and Come And Get Me Feat Styles P. Listen closely or you may miss a piercing punchline and if you're not the type of listener who can read between the lines, there will still be enough to keep your finger on the rewind button.

Production-8

The Last Kiss, unlike many other albums, takes a very diverse approach towards the production of this album. While most kiss albums can expect to have street heavy beats, and a couple of slower R&B based beats to show a softer side, this album shows Kiss mixing up all of the production styles in hip hop. Production styles vary from a southern flow, such as the banger Something Else. He then switches it up with an R&B type beat when he gets together with Neyo for By My Side. The producers used on this album were very diverse as well, as they varied from Da Matrix, Don Cannon, Pharell and even The Alchemist. With a good mixture of fast paced, slow, and mellow songs the production matches the lyrics which obviously set the mood on the album. Death Wish stands out as a speaker banger, as well as Who's Real produced by Swizz Beatz. Overall, Kiss does a great job choosing the production for the album, making for the musical experience to run seemlessly into each other.

Songs-8

Kiss has never been known as a rapper that will talk about too many diverse topics....he usually keeps it very simple for the fans and casual listeners. There's the handful of thug tracks, there's the struggle track, the track where he tries to put all of his friends on, the attempt at a commercial hit, two or three introspective tracks, and then of course the Styles P collabo. The Last Kiss has all of this, but still seems to offer a little bit more than usual. In this album, more than any other album of Kiss, you will be able to get a better understanding of him. Believe it or not, if you're listening hard, you will see that Kiss opens up a lot on this album. Songs like Smoking Gun, Things I've been Through, and Letter To Big. Show Kiss' innate respect and admiration for women, chronicle his growth through the industry, and display his love, respect and friendship with deceased friend, Notorious B.I.G. The topic and quality of songs would be a perfect ten if not for the failed attempt at remaking the song "Why". The track "What If" is clearly a rip off of the previous song and fails to offer the same introspective and social fire that "Why" was able to do for kiss. Grindin Hard, Feat Mariah Carey will be nothing more then a repetitive hook and annoying lyrics to hard core hip hop fans. "Who's Real", although catchy and great for the speakers, is just as corny as Soldier Boy's "Kiss me through the Phone"

Conclusion-8

Now three albums into his solo career and over ten years in the game, we all should know, just like Kiss should, that his status as an artist will probably not raise any higher than what it already is. It is highly unlikely that this album will come out this Tuesday April 7th 2009 and sell two million copies at the end of the week. It is highly unlikely that he will have the same pop status as a Jay-Z or a Little Wayne. But one thing that can be guaranteed is that he will still be a great artist and continue to put out great music. The Last Kiss is not Kiss's best work. It is not the classic album that many Lox stans will call it, but what it is, and will be, is a look into one of the most consistent rappers in the industry. One who is under-appreciated and not as successful as he should be. Being comfortable in his own space, he is putting out music that he loves. If this is the last kiss...it's a hell of a way to go.

DJ Quik & Kurupt Unite for "The Blaqkout" LP

Here is the official press release for the highly anticipated collabo album "Blaqkout" by DJ Quik and Kurupt:

Multi-platinum producer & recording artist DJ Quik, and Dogg Pound affiliate & gangster rapper extraordinaire Kurupt are two of the best-known West Coast representatives in Rap & Hip Hop, period. The pair have teamed up to create a cutting-edge sound on Blaqkout, a full-length collaboration album conceptualized during Snoop Dogg’s Ego Trippin’ recording sessions and masterminded by DJ Quik.

“Kurupt does in rap what I do in music,” DJ Quik says. “It just made sense. Kurupt is a gangster rapper in the sense of being raw, bare-bones and uncut. I wanted to do music that evoked certain feelings and could show his microphone superiority.”

A prime example of the duo’s explosive chemistry is “9 Times Out Of 10.” Over a heavy drum assemblage, Kurupt freaks an intricate rhyme pattern about the likelihood of things happening over and over again. “Blaqkout,” is a masterful musical moment where Kurupt’s brutal lyricism matches Quik’s energetic creation. The “Blaqkout” cut is the epitome of Southern Cali rider music that brings a Sunday on Crenshaw Blvd. vibe to mind.

But the track “Hey Playa” (Moroccan Blues) is the gem in Quik’s production crown – he found the sample & inspiration for this track while watching the Morocco episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on TV. It’s this type of sonic bliss that made the partnership between DJ Quik -- a platinum solo artist and producer of Jay-Z, 2Pac, AMG and others -- and Kurupt -- the standout lyricist of Death Row Records, a double platinum member of Tha Dogg Pound and a ferocious freestyle MC -- so significant.

“Blaqkout” will be in stores June 9, 2009.
